24/7 Managed Detection & Response

Human analysts watching your endpoints, identities and Microsoft 365 around the clock, isolating a compromised machine in minutes — the layer that turns an alert into a stopped attack.

All Managed IT

Overview

Antivirus raises an alert. Someone has to read it at 3 a.m.

Modern endpoint protection is good at noticing something wrong. What small businesses lack is someone to act on the notice: an alert that fires on a Saturday night sits until Monday, and by Monday the attacker has moved from one laptop to the file server and the backups. Managed detection and response is the human layer — a security operations center that investigates every alert, around the clock, and acts on the real ones.

The service watches three places attackers actually go: the endpoints, through the EDR agent we deploy; identities, where a stolen password shows up as a sign-in from somewhere impossible or a mailbox rule that forwards everything outside; and the Microsoft 365 tenant itself. When analysts confirm an incident, the affected device is isolated from the network in minutes, the account is locked, and our team is on the phone with you walking through what happened and what to do next.

Every incident ends with a written report in plain language, and every month ends with a summary of what was seen and stopped. For many of our clients this service is also what satisfied their insurer's requirement for EDR with 24/7 monitoring.

Capabilities

What's included

  • 24/7 security operations centerAnalysts investigating every alert, every hour of every day, not a queue that opens on Monday.
  • Endpoint detection and responseBehavioral detection on every workstation and server, with the agent deployed and kept current by us.
  • Identity threat detectionImpossible sign-ins, malicious inbox rules, token theft and privilege changes in Microsoft 365 and Entra ID.
  • Device isolation and containmentA confirmed-compromised machine cut off from the network in minutes while it is investigated.
  • Incident response coordinationOur team with you through containment, recovery and the notifications your obligations require.
  • Dark web and credential monitoringCompany email addresses and passwords that surface in breach dumps and criminal marketplaces, alerted to our team and reset before they are used.
  • Monthly threat reportingWhat was detected, what was stopped and what it means, in a form the owner can read.

How It Works

Delivered on our platform

Detection and response are delivered through Huntress and the endpoint security agents we deploy from NinjaOne, our enterprise management platform. Analysts in a 24/7 security operations center investigate every alert; when one is real, the device is isolated and our team walks you through recovery.

Common Questions

Questions we get asked

How is MDR different from antivirus?

Antivirus, including modern EDR, is software that detects and blocks what it recognizes. MDR adds people: a security operations center that investigates the alerts the software raises, decides which are real, and responds — isolating a device, locking an account, calling you. The software is necessary; the response is what stops an intrusion becoming a breach.

Who is actually watching at three in the morning?

Security analysts in a staffed 24/7 operations center, through our detection partners. Our own team is paged for confirmed incidents and handles the conversation with you and the recovery, but the first look at an alert at 3 a.m. is by an analyst whose whole job is that, not a technician woken by a phone.

What happens when an attack is detected?

The analyst confirms it is real, the affected device is isolated from the network so the attacker cannot move, and any compromised account is locked. You get a call from our team, not an automated email. Then recovery: cleaning or rebuilding the device, restoring data if needed, closing the hole that was used, and a written report of the whole incident.

We already have Microsoft Defender. Do we still need this?

Defender is a capable agent and can be the endpoint layer in this service. What it does not include on its own is someone watching its alerts at all hours and acting on them, or the identity and Microsoft 365 monitoring that catches a phished account before it does damage. MDR is the layer on top, whichever agent is underneath.

Does this cover our email accounts, not just computers?

Yes. A large share of real incidents in small businesses now start with a stolen Microsoft 365 password rather than malware on a PC. The service watches sign-ins, mailbox rules, token use and privilege changes in the tenant and responds to those the same way — lock the account, investigate, call you.

Is this what our cyber insurer means by EDR or 24/7 monitoring?

Almost always, yes. Insurance applications ask for endpoint detection and response with monitoring and the ability to isolate devices; this service is exactly that, and the monthly report is evidence you can attach. We cannot speak for every policy's wording, so we are happy to read the questionnaire with you.
