Compliance

IT Compliance Services

The technical controls, the policies and the evidence your framework or insurer requires — built into the managed IT program rather than bolted on before an audit.

All Managed IT

Overview

Compliance is not a project you finish. It is a way of running IT that leaves evidence.

Most compliance effort in small organizations is a scramble: a questionnaire from an insurer, a letter from a contracting officer, a new client's vendor-security form, and three weeks of trying to prove things that were never written down. The controls were often half in place — some machines encrypted, most people using MFA, a backup that probably works — but nobody could show it.

We approach it the other way round. The managed IT program already does most of what every framework asks: patching, endpoint protection, backups, MFA, logging, documentation, training. Compliance work maps those controls to the framework that applies to you, closes the gaps, writes the policies that describe how things actually work, and collects the evidence continuously so an audit or questionnaire is an export rather than an archaeology dig.

Each framework has its own page below. What they share is the method: a risk assessment first, a gap list ranked by what an assessor or attacker would care about, remediation through the platform, and documentation kept current by the people who run the systems.

Capabilities

What's included

  • Risk assessmentA documented assessment of your systems, data and threats — the starting point every framework requires.
  • Gap analysis against your frameworkWhat HIPAA, CMMC, PCI DSS or CJIS asks for, what you have, and what is missing, ranked.
  • Control implementationMFA, encryption, logging, access control, backup and patching, delivered through the managed IT program.
  • Policies and proceduresWritten for how your organization actually works, in language your staff will read.
  • Evidence and reportingPatch status, training completion, backup tests and access reviews, collected continuously.
  • Audit and questionnaire supportInsurer questionnaires, client vendor forms and assessor requests answered with your evidence.

How It Works

Why it belongs inside managed IT

Nearly every control a framework asks for is something the managed IT program already does or can be configured to do — patching, endpoint protection, encryption, MFA, logging, backup testing, documentation and training. Running compliance through the same platform means the evidence is produced as a by-product of operating the systems, not assembled by hand before an audit.

Common Questions

Questions we get asked

Can you make us compliant?

We can put the controls in place, write the policies, train the staff and produce the evidence, which is the substance of compliance. Formal status depends on the framework: HIPAA has no certification at all, CMMC Level 2 is assessed by an independent certified assessor, PCI compliance is attested to your card processor, and CJIS is audited by your state's CJIS Systems Agency. We prepare you for those; we do not issue them.

Which framework applies to us?

Usually the data and the contracts decide: patient information means HIPAA; Department of Defense contracts or subcontracts mean CMMC; taking card payments means PCI DSS; access to criminal justice information means CJIS. Many organizations have two. A short conversation about what you store and who you work for settles it, and we will tell you if a framework does not apply.

How is this different from buying a compliance tool?

Compliance platforms are useful for tracking and evidence, and we use them where they help. They do not implement MFA on your tenant, encrypt your laptops, test your backups or write a policy that matches reality. That work is the hard part, and it is the part a managed IT provider is already doing on your systems every day.

What does compliance work cost?

The risk assessment and gap analysis are scoped as a fixed-price project after a short call. Ongoing controls — patching, endpoint protection, backup, training, logging — are part of the managed IT fee, with the compliance layer of policies, evidence collection and questionnaire support added as a flat monthly amount. There is no separate per-audit bill.

What do you need from us to start?

A conversation with whoever owns the risk — usually the owner, practice manager or clerk — about what data you hold and who requires what; access to the systems; any previous assessments, policies or questionnaires; and a named person who can approve policies. The risk assessment surfaces the rest.
